The Trifid Nebula M20, a beautiful diffuse nebula, nicely illustrating the combined effections of ionization and scattering caused by the large yield of blue and UV photons from newly formed massive stars, which are present in this nebula. This is a color composite image made by Karen Gloria at Hopkins Observatory using a 6-inch refractor and a 512x512 element CCD detector. From Greg Bothun'scollection at the University of Oregon.
