Milky Way Globular Clusters

This list contains all 157 Milky Way globular clusters known at the time of this writing (June, 2011), members of the halo of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. Most of the data were taken from William E. Harris, with recent discoveries added from Hurt et.al. (2000) (2MASS-GC01 and 2MASS-GC02), Ortolani et.al. (2000) (ESO 280-SC06), Kobulnicky et.al. (2004) (GLIMPSE-C01), Ortolani et.al. (2006) (AL-3), Froebrich et.al. (2007) (FSR 1735), Koposov et.al. (2007) (Koposov 1 and 2), Kurtev et.al. (2008) (GLIMPSE-C02, see also Strader, Kobulnicky 2008 and Mercer et.al. 2005).
Update as of October 2011: Three new probable candidate globular clusters have been added in a "New" section, plus two investigated other candidates, from Ortolani et.al. (2009) (PWM78 2), Minniti et.al. (2011) (VVV CL001), and Moni Bidin et.al. (2011) (VVV CL002 plus former candidates VVV CL003, VVV CL004).
Update as of late 2018: Two further new probable candidate globulars have been added from Belokurov et.al. (2010) (Segue 3), and Laevens et.al. (2014) (Laevens 1, Crt Cl).

Note: This list includes the four globulars which are probably genuine members of the Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy (SagDEG), namely, M 54, Arp 2, Terzan 7 and Terzan 8. One justification is that those will probably be incorporated in our Galaxy's halo after the disruption of the dwarf galaxy. Another one, Palomar 12, now a dynamical member of the Milky Way halo, was probably captured from SagDEG at some earlier time.
It is also justified as it also contains the presumable four former members of the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy, which was discovered in 2003 and is in an even more advanced state of disruption: M79, NGC 1851, NGC 2298, and NGC 2808. All these are now considered as members of the Galactic halo which recently "immigrated" from disrupted and cannibalized dwarf galaxies.
