We have challenged the Oklahoma City Astronomy Club to bring their best for a series of observing events. We plan to have 7 observing categories and each club will provide a team of experts to compete in each category. Their will also be individual challenges if your not part of the "magnificent seven", but having fun is the ultimate goal. The planed categories: 1. GOTO (Cheating) 2. Star Hop (no computer) 3 .Naked Eye (Green laser) 4 .Binocular (Hand Held) 5 .Most Images 6 .Best Single Image 7 .Most By Individual We should have over 100 participants involved, and we have coined the event "The First Annual Red River Messier Marathon Shootout". Prizes will be awarded to each club winners, and the winning club will keep a traveling trophy.
