Date: March 26, 2006 From: Don Machholz Subject: Messier Marathons # 46 and 47 Hello all; It was a good Marathon up until sometime after midnight. We had clouds in the evening, but they moved around and George Robinson and I each got the first 66, including M74 AND M33. As usual, we each slept for a few hours of sleep, he got up about 2:30 to mostly cloundy, I got up about 3 to 90% cloudy, thin clouds allowing only first and some second mag objects to be visible. That is the way it stayed until the rest of the morning. George ended up with about 90+ objects, I got 84, I think (I had to turn in the results). Working 70-80 hours a week, it was nice to get away for three days, one of two 3-day vacations I am taking this year. Drove 1500 miles round trip. The night before both George and I got 110 objects, he was there the night before that and got 110 on that night too. Him and I do it all from memory. I star hop and he dead reckons. Take care.
